September 29, 2007 The first few weeks of school. So I haven't written anything on this website for about 6 weeks. That's how long we have been in school so far. I guess I didn't realize that I wouldn't have much time to keep the website up, but now that we are getting into a regular routine, it should be easier. So school started without any problems. Brandon and I have the tenth grade homeroom together and we are studying Revelation for devotions (the kids picked it). Our school theme for the year is "Firm Faith in Christ." Its based off of our theme verse from 1 Corinthians 2:6-7. "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Our classes have gotten off to a good start. I love my students. I only work with the 7th and 8th grades and I have been so blessed by getting to know and developing relationships with these kids. Right now my 7th graders in English are reading Bridge to Terabithia and for 8th we are reading Tuck Everlasting. For 8th socials we are studying the Mesopotamian ancient civilizations like Sumer, Assyria, and Babylonia. Its so much fun. I guess I like teaching socials. I will try to get some pictures of my classes in action for the website. My 8th graders made music boxes (that actually work!) for projects in English to go with their novel Tuck Everlasting. These kids are so talented. Brandon has had a good time teaching his classes as well. He is really getting attached to the senior class. He teaches them for calculus and physics. He also has discovered the science lab has rockets. He and his class have had fun in physics shooting them off. Brandon and I both teach elective classes on Friday afternoons. Brandon teaches SAT Prep (what fun!) and I teach cheerleading 101. I don't think Brandon has had as much fun as my class, and we are definitely having a great time. These girls are talented and we have been cheering and stunting our way through the basics of cheerleading. I will try to get some pictures on the website of some of our stunts and the girls cheering. GO CCS! While we have been having fun teaching here, we have had some sad news from home. Brandon's grandmother has been diagnosed with leukemia and we would like prayer for our family at home as they go through all of this. And please pray for us as we are here and can't be with our family as they go through this. I will try to get this site updated more frequently than I have. Please pray our computer holds up to, because we have had a few problems with the fan. Till next time! |
